Each of our Explore sessions start with LOOKING BACK. This is your opportunity to celebrate what God has done. Our job is to take action relying on the power of the Holy Spirit. The results are up to God.
Get into groups of 3-4 people and share:
Ask a few people to share.
Then say, "I would like to help you get to 100 prayer partners over the next few months. Later on you will want more and I will show you how to multiply that to 1,000 -- the number it seems to take to get to movement."
Jesus gave us model of how to build multiplying faith communities and churches. During the coming months I encourage you to read the Gospels in chronological order. As you do this, you will see the logical progression of Jesus' ministry and gain insights into what He did and what He valued during each phase.
Phase 1 - Preparation
Phase 2 - Ministry Foundations
Phase 3 - Ministry Training
Phase 4 - Expanded Outreach
Phase 5 - Leadership Multiplication
(for further details see the series Being Like Jesus )
This period lasts from Jesus’ birth around 4 BC to about 30 years of age. This period is characterized by the following:
40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
The passion of His heart was pure.
His purpose was clear.
The ministry process He decided on was simple:
Jesus determined that He would seek out and work through the people His Father had prepared.
Five things were in place at the end of Jesus preparation years:
For Jesus
Notice first that Jesus grew in "wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man". As leaders our task of growing never stops. As God entrusts us with greater impact in the lives of others He expects growth in our character. In fact, God cares more about our character growth than the growth of our church or faith community.
We want to help with your character growth. Take a look at the outline for Develop. The first section each time we meet is the Heart of a Leader: Evaluating our Walk with God
Let's focus for a few minutes now on the people God wants you to connect with.
(In Generations we want to focus on both the social circles a person is in AND the new social circles they may wish to enter)
Map out your social connections using a daisy illustration.

It’s called a “Daisy Chain” because every person in your daisy will have their own relationship network (daisy).
Many Christians need to expand their social circle so that they are meeting regularly (at least every two weeks) with the same non-Christians. What are some possible groups you can join?
