The 5 Ps of Phase One
  1. Purpose: What is our mission?
  2. Passion: What is our motive?
  3. Product: What does our Heavenly Father want to produce through us?
  4. Process: What are the steps in becoming a maturing disciplemaker?
  5. People: Who has the Father sent to prepare the way?

Are these things in place for your ministry?

LOOKING UP

Discuss:

Core Principles

Encouragement can take many forms.

If people need:

  • Knowledge -- teach/preach
  • Skill --  show/ practise
  • Encouragement -- vision
  • Accountability -- ask
  • Relationship -- time together
  • Prayer -- pray

We often encourage people the way we want to be encouraged. A good leader considers what others need.

LOOKING FORWARD
Evaluating our Leadership
  • In small groups, have each participant evaluate their strengths and weaknesses in encouaraging people:
    • Which of methods of encouragment are you strong in?
    • Which of methods do you want to grow in?
    • How are the other members of your team encouraging others?
  • Have them make a plan on how they can improve. Write “I will, by when” statements.
  • Pray for each person in the group.

The purpose of this exercise is to help participants change their focus from programs to people. It is also to demonstrate how the Planning Arrow is useful in planning decisions.

Participants may need help in figuring out where to put people on their chart.  If you are doing this in person, walk around the room and offer to help people individually.

If doing this online, have a person share their screen.

Where are your people now?
  1. Get your Planning Arrow and your Daisy Chain
  2. Write the name of each person in the appropriate section of the arrow.
  3. Analyze the distribution of names:
    • Where did you place most of the names -- in Connect, Win, Build, Train or Send?
  4. What do you already have in place to move people to the next step?
  5. Where are the biggest gaps in what you can presently offer?
What do your people need?
  • Looking over your Planning Arrow:
    • What activities do you need to stop?
    • What activities do you want to start?
    • Which activities do you need to repurpose? (remember: it is not what you do, but how you use what you do).
  • Write “I will, by when” statements.
  • Pray for each person in the group.
